Back to School Pencil Cards

My kids head back to school this week.  So when I  recently came across a  hybrid pencil card tutorial idea from Snap Click Supply, I just had to make some! With a few alterations I was able to recreate a complete digital card for a teacher and a student.

I created my card with graphics from Laura Passage 2015 August collection papers, and Echo Park school days kit.

To create one I sized my graphic design 8 inches by 3 inches.  Once you have the graphic designed you can print on card stock  regular copy size and fold.  Or just cut around the graphics as a single page. I added some tape to the back of the pencils and tied them with a bow. You can write a fun little note on the back or if folded on the inside of the card!

I had so much fun making these cards and my kids will  receive one school morning as well as a matching one for their teacher.

Missing you

This June my sweet Rachel would have been 14 years old.  My little sweetie passed away as an infant at 3 weeks old.  Still amazing to me how the time as flown.

I still think of her as that little infant but also try to visualize how she would be now if she had remained with our family.

Our family still takes a moment each year to honor her memory.  Once during memorial day and again on her birthday.  There are also times for me that I think of her and remember her sweet smile.

I like to think that she looks down on us from above.

Birthday Interview

Birthdays are a big celebration at my house each year.  I love celebrating my wonderful children on their special day.  My children look forward to a day devoted just to them.

This year I added a new tradition.  A birthday interview.  Long after the cake is eaten, the presents unwrapped and the balloons deflated. I want to have a sweet memento of the past year in their life.

What I love most about this interview is that I will have a snapshot of their thoughts and feelings from the year to treasure and remember them by.

To make your own first select the pictures you are going to use. We have this amazing river trail near our home.  We shared a half hour and I took some snapshots of my son on the trail.

Next create a list of personalized questions for your child to answer.  Sit down with them one on one and have a fun little interview.  You may even want to have their favorite snack to munch on while you chat together.  Once you have your pictures and questions complete you are ready to create your birthday interview page to print and frame. I designed my print in Heritage Collector Storybook to fit an 8 x 10 frame.  I created mine in a digital format with my pictures and two different colored texts. Black text for the questions and blue for the answers. I used a picture I found on flicker to create my template and page.  You are welcome to use my page as a guide.

His answer to question number 6 made me smile. Who is the coolest person on earth?  Me!

Mothers Day Flower Banner

I love hydrangea flowers and what better gift for Mothers Day than a flower bouquet to enjoy all year long!  I especially had fun designing a banner to put in the flowers!

Supplies:

Tin bucket, hydrangea flower bouquet, foam, straws, printed banner.

I designed my banner to fit the size of the tin bucket at 6 inches long and 2 inches wide. I used some graphics from Digital Scrapbook Ingredients Life Captured April kit to create mine.  I trimmed my flowers from Hobby Lobby to fit in the bucket and then placed them in the foam to hold them in place.  Once the flowers were arranged I attached the banner to two straws and set them in the arrangement.

Happy with how my project turned out! I think Mom with love it too.

Saint Patrick's Day Irish Blessing

Did you know it's actually the 3 leaf shamrock and not the four leaf clover that symbolize St. Patrick's Day?  I didn't know that until I studied up a bit more on this Irish holiday!  Print was created with Feeling Lucky by Clever Monkey graphics.

St Patty's Day Luck Blocks

March will soon be here and I put together some blocks today to display for Saint Patricks Day. Can I tell you how easy it is to create seasonal decor with blocks?  I used the Enchanted Papers from Deena Rutter for my backgrounds. I added some sparkly alpha from Zoe Pearn.  I designed each square to fit my  4" x 4" blocks.  You could easily glue them to the clover decor for your front door or add to a shelf!

Seriously all I needed was some blocks to paint. My digital elements on my page layout to print and cut out.

A Life Well Lived

I love the sentiment of this quote.  When an amazing fulfilling life has been lived it's the stories and photos that are left behind to be shared that remain.  One of the legacies I hope to leave my family is a collection of my stories to be remembered and shared down through time.

Print designed with Heritage Collector. An amazing program to help you tell your story! Mye De Leon's Here and Now Collection and Paper Garden Projects.
